New Medical Imaging Donor Wall Honours Community Generosity
Vernon, B.C. — A new Medical Imaging Donor Wall was installed on February 23, 2026, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) as a permanent tribute to the generosity of individuals, organizations, and groups whose contributions have strengthened access to diagnoses and timely treatments for the entire North Okanagan.
“This donor wall tells an inspirational story of compassion, community, and a shared commitment to better healthcare, locally,” says Kate McBrearty, executive director of VJH Foundation. “It stands as a permanent tribute and celebration of the generosity that has transformed diagnostic care for patients in the North Okanagan.”
In 2022–23, 2,143 donors contributed $6.3 million to double CT scanning capacity at our hospital, funding a state‑of‑the‑art dual‑energy CT scanner, a new control room, a more spacious waiting area, and dedicated radiologist offices. A year later, 1,664 donors contributed $1.2 million expand X‑ray services with a renovated, cutting‑edge X‑ray suite. Located near the medical imaging department entrance, the donor wall recognizes supporters who contributed $5,000 or more to major medical imaging projects over the past decade.
The wall also highlights key milestones in medical imaging at VJH, including the community‑funded Mammography unit (2015), supported by more than 400 donors, and the MRI suite (2019), made possible through a $7 million provincial investment.
A dedicated “future home” section will soon recognize another important milestone and the ongoing generosity of our community with the addition of a new Ultrasound department, scheduled to open January 2027.
“We invite you to stop by on your next visit to the hospital,” says Kate McBrearty, “And check it out!”
