Unexpected surgery can be frightening
Carol woke up in sudden and severe pain. She rushed to VJH Emergency and was told she’d need surgery. Because it was the same surgery her daughter had 15 years ago in Vancouver, Carol thought she would have to make another stressful and painful journey.
This time, her experience was different. Bringing essential surgical equipment to VJH, means more people like Carol can get the care they need, right here at home.
The right tools make all the difference
Lasers and microscopes are essential equipment for VJH surgical teams. Having the right tools means less invasive surgeries, shorter recovery times and better patient outcomes. Because of community generosity, we can now replace a Thulium laser, a CO2 laser and an ENT microscope. Last year, over 2,600 operations were performed with these three pieces of surgical equipment alone.
Together, we made sure that our surgeons have the right tools to do their jobs, so everyone continues to have access to this top-notch care in our North Okanagan community.
