Help us transform ultrasound care at VJH
Together, we are building the future of diagnostic care at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Our vision for a state-of-the-art imaging department
From Mammography to MRI, CT and X-ray, we’re building a state-of-the-art imaging department at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
The next step is a new and improved Ultrasound department because it’s currently stretched far beyond what it was designed to handle.
We’ve raised 80% of our $6.4M goal — and with your help, we can finish this project and transform patient care for decades to come.
Join us in completing this vital expansion. Together, we can make a lasting impact and deliver the medical imaging services our community needs.
Meeting rising demand for ultrasound
Demand for ultrasound is projected to increase by 111% over the next decade.
VJH’s Medical Imaging department is one of the busiest in the Interior, and ultrasound is the most frequently used type of imaging. Using sound waves to create real-time images, ultrasound plays a vital role in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Our $6.4M ultrasound expansion will add four new ultrasound rooms equipped with the latest technology, increasing capacity by over 5,000 scans annually. This means shorter wait times and faster access to critical diagnoses and treatments.
The new department will also feature larger, more accessible diagnostic rooms to accommodate stretchers and inpatient exams, along with additional offices, a medical device reprocessing room, two new waiting areas and a washroom — creating a more efficient, patient-centered environment.
Reducing wait times when every moment counts
Waiting for answers can feel unbearable when your health is at stake. That’s why VJH Foundation, Interior Health and our donors are committed to improving access to life-saving diagnostics. Together, we’ve already achieved major milestones:
2015: New Mammography unit funded by 400+ community donations
2019: MRI suite made possible by a $7 million provincial investment
2023: Doubled CT scanning capacity with $6.3M donor-funded upgrade, including a state-of-the-art dual-energy Siemens’ CT Scanner
2025: Expanded X-ray suite with cutting-edge technology, thanks to $1.2M from our generous community

Why medical imaging matters
These medical imaging technologies — MRIs, CT scans, X-rays and ultrasound imaging — support advanced patient care, allowing physicians to non-invasively see inside the body. Medical imaging is used for everything from prevention and screening to early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Physicians are increasingly relying on scans for clinical decision-making and developing treatment plans for conditions and illnesses such as arthritis, lung infections, cancer, the need for hip or knee replacements, broken bones, and more.
