Construction Well Underway on JoeAnna’s House Expansion

KELOWNA, BC —JoeAnna’s House has been overcapacity for some time. Construction on a much-needed expansion is well underway, with walls, a foundation, and framing now in place. The project will add 10 new rooms and is on track to welcome families in August 2026.

Since opening in 2019, its 20 rooms have welcomed more than 3,000 families — many from our North Okanagan community. Located next to Kelowna General Hospital, JoeAnna’s House is an essential lifeline for families supporting loved ones needing advanced cardiac care, stroke treatment, neonatal intensive care (NICU), oncology, and other specialized services not available in Vernon.

To meet this growing need, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is proud to partner with the KGH Foundation and regional hospital foundations in supporting the expansion of JoeAnna’s House. The additional rooms will ensure more families can remain close to their loved ones during some of life’s most overwhelming moments.

Thanks to the generosity of donors across the region, $3.75M of the $5.3M fundraising goal has already been reached. Community support is helping create a safe, welcoming, and affordable place for families facing unexpected medical crises far from home.

“JoeAnna’s House has saved me and my sanity”

When Val Cyr’s husband, Herb, suffered a devastating ATV accident on their rural Vernon property, everything changed in an instant.

For Val, the need to be close to her husband during his time in the ICU was non-negotiable.

That’s when JoeAnna’s House welcomed her in.
