Light a Bulb Continues to Shine

The overwhelming support from North Okanagan donors has resulted in $183,590 to the VJH Foundation’s Light a Bulb Campaign. This year’s campaign will support orthopaedics with new surgical equipment to alleviate long wait times for hip and knee surgery. This will be done by increasing efficiencies in the hospital. Health care sterilization standards have undergone improvements. However, one of the effects has been longer time periods to complete the sterilization cycle for surgical equipment.“Adding two more surgical sets to the surgical rotation will mean that surgeries won’t be delayed by the lengthy sterilization process, resulting in an increased number of surgeries performed every day at VJH,” said Campaign Chair Marg Bailey. “This is how wait times will be decreased for residents of the North Okanagan.”Generous organizations and businesses contributing to Light a Bulb include Backyard Pleasures Ltd., Kineshanko Logging, and the Pythian Sisters Vernon Temple #21.To help the VJH Foundation light the tree atop the hospital and let the spirit of generosity shine this holiday season, donations can be made online, by mail to VJH Foundation, 2101-32nd Street, Vernon BC V1T 5L2 or phone 250.558-1362.photo: The Pythian Sisters, Vernon Temple generously donated to Light a Bulb.
