VJHF Partners with KGHF to Expand JoeAnna’s House

JoeAnna’s House – a “home away from home” for families travelling to Kelowna while their loved ones receive care at KGH.

We believe that healthcare is a shared commitment, and that strategic partnerships are key to helping us shape what’s possible for our North Okanagan community.

That’s why we’re deepening our long-time collaboration with KGH Foundation to expand regional care.

JoeAnna’s House opened in 2019 with 20 family rooms and has welcomed 3,000 families to date. Our community is its third largest user – folks from here may go to Kelowna for advanced cardiac or stroke-related care while others go there for specialized care that they can’t get in Vernon, such as neonatal intensive care (NICU), oncology, and other complex medical needs.

But the demand has far outstripped the capacity, with over 950 families turned away so far.

That’s why we said “yes” when KGH Foundation asked us to partner on a 10-room expansion of JoeAnna’s House. Because we understand that healthcare doesn’t stop at the city limits. And compassion doesn’t either.
We are joining KGH Foundation along with other regional hospital foundations.
Together, we will fundraise, increase awareness, and affirm that JoeAnna’s House is a critical extension of care for families from every corner of the Interior.

We’ll be launching our fundraising campaign for JoeAnna’s house in September and will have more information then.
