Hospital Employees Celebrated by VJH Foundation Team

A free lunch is just one of the ways that the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation likes to say thank you to the hundreds of Interior Health staff in the North Okanagan.

This week over 500 hardworking staff, physicians, and volunteers at Vernon Jubilee Hospital were treated to a complimentary barbecue lunch as a thank you for their continual efforts and hard work in our community.

“Running a hospital is a complex endeavour with many dedicated people working on the front line as well as behind the scenes. It’s important to us as a Foundation that we take the opportunity to celebrate and recognize the amazing team we have here,” stated Kate McBrearty, VJH Foundation interim executive director.

Hosted by the VJH Foundation, lunch was served up by members of the foundation board and team. Dr. Curtis Mohamed, a long time physician at the hospital as well as a member of the Foundation Board, could be found flipping burgers and serving up smiles along with members of the Food Services team. Attendees were also treated to appearances by members of the Vernon Vipers hockey team, who took the opportunity to chat with staff and offer them discounted tickets to the upcoming season home games.

“It feels good to be so appreciated and to be acknowledged in such a sincere and positive way. The workers at this hospital are amazing and I appreciated the wonderful job they do,” stated Anne Marie Wass, a Nursing unit Assistant in Women’s and Children’s at VJH who took the time out of her busy day to come and enjoy lunch and ice cream with her team.
