The 105.7 SUN FM Have a Heart Radiothon made a huge difference!   $53,500 in support of the Maternal Child unit at VJH.  SUN FM radio personalities Brian Martin and Betty Selin broadcasted live on location at the Real Canadian Superstore April 3rd and 4th.  This year funds raised more than enough to purchase a much needed Philips Fetal Monitor.  This vital piece of equipment will offer advanced fetal and maternal monitoring for pregnant mothers at our hospital. It will integrate the monitoring of a mother’s blood pressure and pulse rate with measurement of single or multiple fetal heart rates and uterine activity of her baby or babies. Efficiently designed, the Fetal Monitor is compact and easy to use and has power and performance features, including high-quality ultrasound.

Sprott Shaw College students collected over $470, spare change at the corner of 43rd Ave and 27th St. for 45 minutes on the afternoon of April 3rd.   RadioSprott

SPORT CHEK MOTHER'S DAY RUN & WALK LAUNCH

Honorary Chair Dr. Finley Armanious officially launched the 2008 Sport Chek Mother's Day Run & Walk on April 1st at the Village Green Mall with a challenge to young Physicians to support this event and run the 10 KM in under 45 minutes.  Dr. Armanious has been involved with this event from the beginning and understands the critical need to replace a 12 year Urodynamic System with a new for the Ambulatory Care Unit of the hospital.

2008 Vernon Good Citizen of the Year award winner Cass Ruby also shared her volunteer experiences.  She challenged the community to walk or run and to financially support this event.
