The Have a Heart Radiothon was an overwhelming success raising over $56,000.00 to benefit the babies at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Thanks to Brian Martin & Betty Selin of SUNfm for broadcasting live, 6 am to 6 pm today, in the pouring rain, encouraging their listeners to donate. Thanks to your generosity a new state of the art incubator will be purchased for Women's and Children's Health Services.
This year’s Fairway Gala and golf tournament will pair Predator Ridge Resort with an important community cause; Vernon Jubilee Hospital. The first two Home Hardware Charity Classic events held in August 2010 & 2011 netted $335,000 that purchased medical equipment for the new Polson Tower. The Tower of Care Campaign is complete but needs at the hospital are ever growing.
This year’s event will support the purchase of equipment to diagnosis and treat cancers. Each year the Vernon Jubilee receives more than 3500 patient visits from local residents who have received a cancer diagnosis; this is more that double the numbers seen as little as ten years ago. This year, the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre is expanding into space vacated by the ICU and Cardiac Care units. This expansion allows for the addition of a second Medical Oncologist, Dr. Mike Humphrey who will assist Dr Ed Hardy with Cancer care and treatment needs.
The weekend begins Saturday evening August 11 with a Fairway Gala, under a huge tent that will be raised near the practice area. The evening begins with a reception which will be followed by a gourmet meal paired with wine. CBC news anchorman, Tony Parsons, will be back to assist with the program. The Vegas style golf tournament starts with a shot-gun at 1 p.m. on Sunday.. A deli box lunch will be waiting for you on your golf cart. The organizing committee has lots of fun planned for you. The event culminates with a BBQ dinner followed by the awards. Predator Ridge is generously providing an astonishing $10,000 prize table …talent and low scoring won’t necessarily guarantee that you will walk away with the prizing. Plan to attend the best event of the summer!

ON OUCHS of The RICE BOX presents Sue Beaudry with a cheque for $3,008.11. This donation was the result of their fundraiser held on Jan 8th.
Dalvir Nahal & the Punjabi Heritage Society Committee present a $7,911.11 cheque to Dr. Ed Hardy, Oncologist at VJH and Richard Rolke, VJH Foundation Board Member. The donation is to benefit the McMurtry Baerg Cancer Centre.
