Privacy Policy
Policy
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation shall follow explicitly all provisions of the Personal Information Protection Act of British Columbia. The Foundation values the relationships developed with donors and prospective donors over the years and will do nothing to jeopardize those relationships.
Commitment
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is committed to protecting the confidentiality, privacy and personal information of all donors, prospective donors and any other individuals whose personal information is held by the Foundation.
Privacy Officer
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation's Privacy Officer is Sue Beaudry. Ms. Beaudry may be reached by ordinary mail at 2101 32 Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2. The Privacy Officer will establish a process to respond to any complaints that may arise and make information available on request about the policies and practices and the complaint process.
Express Consent
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will obtain expressed written or oral consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, except in circumstances when the Personal Information Protection Act authorizes the Foundation to do so.
Implied Consent
Implied consent may be relied on when the purpose would be considered obvious to a reasonable person and the individual voluntarily provides the personal information for that purpose.
Withdrawal
Any individual may withdraw consent at any time.
Purposes
When collecting information, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will state the purpose of the collection and provide, on request, the contact information for the Privacy Officer.
Collection
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will limit the collection of information to that which is necessary to fulfill its mission.
Use
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will not use personal information for purposes other than those, for which it was collected, except as required by law.
Sharing
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will not share with, rent or sell personal information to any individual, organization, agency, or corporation.
Accuracy
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the personal information it is using is accurate and complete.
Access
Any individual has the right to access the personal information collected by the Foundation and any individual has the right to view the personal information held by the Foundation and make any corrections the individual feels necessary. When a challenge regarding the accuracy of personal information is not resolved to the individual’s total satisfaction, the Foundation will annotate the personal information under its control with a note that the requested correction was not made.
Protection
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will protect the personal information in its custody by making reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorized access, collection, use disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks. Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation will employ electronic and physical security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity level of personal information including locked filing cabinet, limited access to the office, restricting access to files and databases, and electronic measures such as passwords and encryption.
Retention
The Foundation will make anonymous, destroy or erase documents containing personal information as soon as it is reasonable to assume the original purpose is no longer being served.
