Annual Light a Bulb Campaign Raises Funds for a Next Generation X-ray Machine for VJH.

The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce that the 2023 Charity Classic golf tournament at Predator Ridge raised a record $380,000 to continue advancing excellence in healthcare within the North Okanagan.

They phoned and sent notes and even stopped in to tell their stories—of how a CT scan saved the life of a sister in a car crash, or made all the difference when a husband got cancer. They wrote cheques. They donated online. They told their friends and in-laws. In this way, the Light a Bulb appeal to raise the remaining $900,000 for an urgently needed second CT scanner at Vernon Jubilee Hospital has reached its goal several months early.

In 2008, entrepreneur Don Friesen collapsed suddenly from a massive heart attack while visiting B.C. from his home in Alberta… Don had only a one percent chance of survival …

Our community once again came together in a big way for the annual Pure Country 105.7 Have a Heart Radiothon event, raising over $85,000 for much needed equipment in the Women’s and Children’s Health Services (WCHS) unit at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

The Christmas tree on the roof of the hospital is no longer lit but the impact of the 2021 Light a Bulb campaign is still shining bright.

Thanks to a tremendous outpouring of community support, the 34th annual Light a Bulb fundraising goal has been significantly surpassed, with over $441,500 raised during the 2021 holiday campaign.

To celebrate the annual Light a Bulb campaign the VJH Foundation is inviting all kids (and kids at heart) to get out their favourite colouring tools, and have fun getting creative and colouring Lars the elf.

“We are incredibly grateful to once again be the beneficiaries of such generosity,” stated Kate McBrearty, Executive Director of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
