On Monday evening June 16, 2008 the Auxiliary held their Annual General Meeting at the Schubert Centre. The event began with an informal receiption for members and guests. A delicious buffet, catered by the Schubert Centre, was enjoyed by all. Peter DuToit, Community Administrator for the North Okanagan and Sue Beaudry Director of Development for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation brought greeting to membership.
Outgoing President Wendy Christensen presided over the festivities. Wendy formally acknowledge the tireless work of Auxiliary members in so many areas. She also recognized members for organizing longstanding activities like the Garden Fair, Christmas Bazaar and the annual Party for the Disabled. As well she identified some new fundraising activites such as the Cracked Pot Coffee Express, a coffee kiosk located, next to the Gift Shop which open on June 16th. Margaret Cousins was honoured with a Life Membership in recognition of her many contributions to Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary Society. She was emotionally moved by this personal recognition.
In March Auxilian Win Steele celebrated her 100th birthday. Both Win and Alvie Pope were publicly recognized with flowers for their contribution to the Auxiliary over the years.
